S.M.A.R.T. Goals Framework

How to transform your goals to maximize growth and excellence.

"Without dreams and goals there's no living, only merely existing, and that's not why we are here."
- Mark Twain -

At Acton Academy Northwest Austin,

we arm our learners with tools like the S.M.A.R.T. Goals Framework to transform regular goals into powerful tools for maximizing growth and excellence.

Here's how:

S = Specific
(WHAT will I do?)

Ask Yourself:  Is it clear what exactly are you trying to do or is it still too vague or ambiguous?

M = Measurable
(HOW will I do it?)

Ask Yourself:  How will you be able to tell when you have reached your goal?

A = Achievable

(COULD I do it...even if it means I have to work very hard?)

Ask Yourself:  Given what you believe you are capable of, do you believe you can do it?

R = Relevant

(WHY do I want to do this?)

Ask yourself:  Do you have a good reason for wanting to reach this goal?

T = Tough

(Is this CHALLENGING enough that it's worth spending my time and effort?)

Ask yourself:  Is this goal tough enough to get me out of my Comfort Zone, but not so tough that I'll be in my Panic Zone the whole time?
