Constructive Critique Framework

Own your feelings while asking someone you care about to do better.

"Failing to hold someone accountable is ultimately an act of selfishness."
- Patrick Lencioni -

At Acton Academy Northwest Austin,

we arm our learners with tools like the Constructive Critique Framework to name and own their feelings while asking someone they care about to do better.

Here's how:

(Name), when you (Specific Action), it makes me feel (Feeling).  Can you please (Specific Action) instead?

EXAMPLES:

"Harry, when you tap your wand on the desk during Silent Core Skills time, it makes me feel distracted.  Can you please put your wand in your cubby instead?"

"Hermoine, when you and Ron argue, it makes me feel anxious.  Can you please take your discussion to the Peace Table instead?"

"Ron, when you put those Wildfire Whiz-bangs in my lunch sack, it made me feel mad and sad.  Can you please only use Whiz-bangs outside instead?"
